§ 20. WORK STREETS.  


Latest version.
  • That the mayor and aldermen of said town shall have power to require all persons in said town subject to work on the public roads to work the streets of said town not exceeding ten days in any year, or may accept in lieu thereof, in each case, such sum as said mayor and aldermen may deem just and proper; and such persons may be exempt from road duty elsewhere in this state, and the said mayor and aldermen shall have authority to enforce this power by suitable penalties.
