§ 52. PUBLIC BUILDINGS; FIRE DISTRICTS.
The mayor and board of aldermen of said town are hereby given the following powers—to-wit:
(a)
To erect, purchase, or rent a town hall, school-houses, enginehouses, and all other necessary municipal buildings.
(b)
To provide for the prevention and extinguishment of fires, and to organize, establish, and maintain fire and hook and ladder companies; to establish a fire district in such portion of said town as it may deem best to prevent fires, and to designate the class or kind of buildings which may be erected in said district, and may institute all suits necessary to the proper enforcement of the ordinances when adopted.
