Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, that an act approved
January 7, 1886, incorporating the Town of Indianola, in the County of Sunflower,
in this state, be, and the same is hereby, repealed; and that the said town be, and
the same is hereby, incorporated under the provision hereinafter expressed, with the
following boundaries and limits—that is to say:
Begin at the center of the old courthouse of said Sunflower County, as the same was
located on February 24th, 1890, and run thence to the center of the new or present
courthouse of said county, situate in the Town of Indianola; run thence north 2551
feet to a stake which marks the beginning of the north boundary line of the corporate
limits of the said Town of Indianola, as enlarged by this ordinance; run thence due
west to the township line between 19, Range 4 West, and Township 19, Range 5 West,
which is the northwest corner of the boundary line of said Town of Indianola, as fixed
by this ordinance; run thence due south to the center of Indian Bayou; run thence
west along the center of Indian Bayou, 400 feet; run thence due south to a stake which
marks a point due west of the southwest corner of the present corporate line and which
point shall be the southwest corner of the corporate line of the said Town of Indianola,
as fixed by this ordinance; run thence to the center line of Section Six, Township
18, Range 4 West; run thence south to the southwest corner of Lot 38, of the Bailey Addition to the Town of Indianola; run thence east to the east line
of Section Six, Township 18, Range 4 West; run thence to the northeast corner of Section
Six, Township 18, Range 4 West; run thence east 620 feet; run thence due north to
a point due east of the beginning point to a stake which shall be the northeast corner
of said Town of Indianola as fixed by this ordinance; run thence due west to the beginning
point of this survey which shall be the corporate lines of the said Town of Indianola,
as fixed by this ordinance.
Amendment note—
Ordinance adopted August 23, 1928, enlarged the boundaries of this city as described
in section 1 of the charter.
